Vardhan Puri expresses disagreement with Salman Khan over censorship on OTT platforms; Here’s what he said
After Salman Khan advocated for monitoring of OTT content, Vardhan Puri expressed his belief that censorship would stifle creativity on such platforms.

However, Vardhan Puri, the grandson of legendary actor Amrish Puri, held a contrasting stance to Salman Khan, opining that censorship on OTT platforms would impede creativity, and also expressing his belief that adults should have the liberty to select their preferred content.
In an interview with a media outlet, Vardhan expressed his respect for the opinions of others but stated his disagreement by saying that censorship would lead to a lack of creativity. He mentioned being against censorship and advocated for certification and the establishment of guidelines and labels. Furthermore, he believed that adults should be able to make their own decisions regarding what they choose to watch, and he strongly opposed censorship, especially on OTT platforms.
He continued by stating that while certification is acceptable, he found it illogical to cut out portions of content or prevent its release based on language, nudity, or vulgarity. He believed that regulation, but not censorship, was necessary, as it is important to limit access to content to only appropriate audiences, such as minors. However, he disagreed with the idea of individuals or organizations deciding what is acceptable for viewers to watch.
Recently appointed as the host of the forthcoming Filmfare Awards, Salman Khan was of the view that content which is "clean" would be preferable if younger audiences were to watch it. He also expressed the belief that viewership would see an increase following the censorship of films and shows. Khan's upcoming movie, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, directed by Farhad Samji, is scheduled to be released on April 21 to mark the occasion of Eid.
Meanwhile, Vardhan made his acting debut in the romantic thriller Yeh Saali Aashiqui, where he played a double role, directed by Cherag Ruparel. Prior to his acting career, Vardhan had worked as an assistant director on several films, including Daawat-e-Ishq, Shuddh Desi Romance, and Ishaqzaade.
