Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the train via video conference since he needed to get to Ahmedabad for the funeral of his mother Heeraben, who died this morning.

The 22301/22302 Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express will begin commercial service on January 1, 2023. Except for Wednesday, West Bengal's first semi-high-speed train will run six days a week. When it is in commercial operation, the train will take 7.5 hours to travel the 600-mile trip.

Passengers travelling to New Jalpaiguri can now make reservations online using the Passenger Reservation System (PRS). However, concessionary booking is not accepted on this train. This semi-fast train has a tatkal quota.

Booking number 22301 The Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Express will be available on PRS and the Internet starting on December 30, 2022. The new Vande Bharat Express from Howrah to New Jalpaiguri is expected to reduce travel time by three hours when compared to existing trains on the route. According to the government, there are 14 trains on this route. They all complete the 564-kilometre course in roughly 10:45 hours on average.


The Vande Bharat Express will stop at three stations along its route: Bolpur (Shantiniketan), Malda Town, and Barsoi. The 78 seats in each chair vehicle will be separated into two rows, with the specially-made tables being the major draw.
