Vaibhav Sooryavanshi emerged as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament after topping the run-scoring charts with 776 runs in 16 innings. BCCI Secretary BCCI Devajit Saikia congratulated Royal Challengers Bengaluru after their thrilling five-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in the 2026 final held in Ahmedabad. The win marked another strong season for RCB as they continued their dominant run in the league.

Saikia praised the overall quality of the tournament and also highlighted the emergence of young talents, especially Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who delivered standout performances throughout the season.

He said, "It was a wonderful season... I hope all the fans have a lovely time during this IPL, and congratulations to RCB for winning the tournament consecutively twice. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is a wonderful player coming up, and he has a bright future. BCCI will do everything to get him to the highest level of cricket..."

"I want to play Test cricket, obviously, because my father also taught me that it is the ultimate format, and I have played it as well. I'm yet to play many games, though. I played Ranji Trophy cricket but did not get too many opportunities, and it was challenging for me. But I am going to keep working on that aspect of my game," he added.

He also spoke about preparations for upcoming global events, including the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, calling it a major challenge ahead while expressing confidence in the Indian women’s team, popularly known as the Women in Blue.

IPL 2026 Final Match Summary

In the final, Gujarat Titans were asked to bat first and managed only 155/8 in 20 overs. Washington Sundar (50* off 37 balls) and Nishant Sindhu (20 off 18 balls) were the only notable contributors with the bat.

RCB’s bowling attack stood out with consistent breakthroughs from Rasikh Dar Salam (3/27), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/29), and Josh Hazlewood (2/37), restricting GT effectively throughout the innings.

RCB Chase Led by Virat Kohli

In reply, RCB started strongly with a 62-run opening stand between Venkatesh Iyer (32 off 16 balls) and Virat Kohli.

Despite a mid-innings fightback from GT that reduced RCB to 132/5, Kohli anchored the chase brilliantly with an unbeaten 75 off 42 balls, guiding his team to victory.

The season also saw remarkable individual achievements, especially from 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who emerged as a breakout star.

He finished as the highest run-scorer with 776 runs at a staggering strike rate of 237.30, becoming the youngest-ever Orange Cap winner at just 15 years and 65 days old.

This broke previous age-related records held by players like Shubman Gill and Sudharsan, further highlighting the extraordinary nature of his breakthrough season.

BJP MP Anurag Thakur also extended his congratulations to RCB for their back-to-back title win in the final against Gujarat Titans.

He said, "I congratulate RCB for winning the IPL for the second consecutive time. The match was happening in Ahmedabad, but many RCB fans had come to watch the match. This was a great victory in cricket... IPL is the biggest league of cricket. This is a very big achievement of BCCI."

This victory marked RCB’s second IPL title and their fourth major Indian franchise trophy overall, including two Women's Premier League championships, reinforcing their growing dominance across men’s and women’s competitions.
