Dhanush’s action drama, 'Vaathi' is making a big roar at box office ticket windows. Vaathi earned Rs 5.5 crore on Day 4. The film crossed Rs 51 crore mark at the end of day 4 and the total collection including the overseas collection is reportedly Rs 63 crore now.

The film earned Rs 30 crore at the end of day 3 in the domestic market. The Telugu version of the movie ‘Sir’ earned Rs 16 crores mainly from Telugu states and collected Rs 5 crore from overseas markets. Actor Dhanush received huge acclaim for his role as a college teacher who goes all out to teach the unprivileged kids in the movie.

The filmmakers declared Vaathi a blockbuster as the movie crossed the expected mark and grossed Rs 12 crore on Day 1. Maha Shivratri weekend helped the movie reach new heights grabbing Rs 20 crore by the end of Day 2.


Dhanush’s eagerly awaited movie was originally released as ‘Vaathi’ in Tamil and simultaneously released as ‘Sir’ in Telugu. Vaathi graced the theatres worldwide on February 17. This movie is written and directed by well-known filmmaker Venky Atluri. Samyuktha Menon, Tanikella Bharani, Sai Kumar, Samuthirakani will be seen in important roles in the movie. The movie runs under the banner of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. This movie portrays education during the 1980s and the struggle of a man against the privatization and crimes in the education sector.

Dhanush’s upcoming movies include Captain Miller directed by Arun Matheswaran and Shekhar Kammula’s Next directed by Shekhar Kammula. According to a report, Dhanush will appear in The Gray Man sequel.
