Uttar Pradesh: Part of newly-inaugurated Bundelkhand Expressway caves in; Opposition tears into BJP

Opposition parties in UP had a field day ripping BJP apart after a part of the newly-inaugurated Bundelkhand Expressway caved in.

Incessant rains over the past few days have caused considerable damage to the highway at Chhiriya Salempur in Jalaun Tehsil.

Opposition has slammed the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh over the highway, which was inaugurated barely a week back by PM Narendra Modi on July 16.


Videos which were shared by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) showed that some repair work is being done to control the damage to the affected part of the highway.

The AAP lashed out at the BJP govt and said that the double engine government's much touted highway couldn't even survive for a week.



On the other hand, SP alleged in a tweet that the BJP is simply misleading the people of Bundelkhand and rains have exposed the reality of its claims.



The 296-km-long Bundelkhand Expressway has been built at a cost of around Rs 14,850 crore and in future, it can be expanded into six lanes.
