A special musical tribute was extended by the US embassy as India commemorates its 74th Republic Day. A rendition of India’s national song, “Vande Mataram” by the US embassy won millions of hearts online. As per the embassy two US officers – Raghavan and Stephanie – teamed up along with the singer and composer Pavithra Chari for the rendition of the song.

The embassy captioned the video as “Happy 74th Republic Day, India,” The vocalist was a part of US Department's exchange programme named 'OneBeat Music' and the singer also featured on the Grammy-nominated song “Shuruaat”.

Earlier today on the occasion of Republic Day, the State secretary Antony Blinken wished India "the friendship between India and the United States is simply one of the most consequential in the world."


India is celebrating its 74th Republic Day and the celebration of the day took place on the revamped Central Vista avenue. The celebration marked the first celebrations on the ceremonial boulevard since Rajpath was changed to Kartavya Path last year.

People from all walks of society were invited to witness the grand parade. The parade on the Kartavya Path featured a total of 23 tableaux—17 from states and union territories and six from other ministries and departments—depicting India's rich cultural legacy, economic development, and social advancement.

The parade ceremony began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying tributes to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial. Later, President Murmu unfurled the National Flag followed by the National Anthem with a booming 21-gun salute.
