A 40-year-old woman has alleged that she was blackmailed and sexually exploited for nearly two years after private videos were allegedly taken from her mobile phone when she gave it for repairs in January 2024, police told PTI. The videos were later circulated on social media, and a case has now been registered against six people, including a doctor and the owner of the repair shop.

According to Suriyawan Station House Officer Manoj Kumar, the woman alleged that three men obtained several private videos from her phone after she left it at a shop owned by Devi Lal in January 2024, as reported by PTI. They allegedly refused to delete the recordings and used them to blackmail and sexually exploit her, while threatening to kill her family if she approached the police.

The woman had initially approached the police on January 3, 2024, after one of the videos surfaced on social media. She alleged that no action was taken at the time, Kumar said.

The videos allegedly resurfaced on August 28 this year, when Kuldeep Kumar Bind reportedly circulated one of them online. Dheeraj Kumar Bind, a doctor, subsequently allegedly circulated the video repeatedly and pressured the woman for sexual favours, police said.

Based on the woman's complaint and screenshots of the videos, police registered a case on Monday against six accused under Sections 351(3) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deal with criminal intimidation and intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace, respectively, along with provisions of the Information Technology Act.

Police said Devi Lal shut his shop and fled before officers arrived on Monday evening. Efforts are underway to trace the accused.
