UP Wedding Night Horror: A wedding celebration in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, turned violent. A dispute over a barking dog escalated into a physical fight. Several guests sustained injuries. The formal wedding ceremony was subsequently called off. Th...

As per a Times of India (TOI) report, the incident took place on Thursday during the planned wedding ceremony of 25-year-old jeweller Sumit Kesarwani and 19-year-old Tanu Kesarwani in Khaga tehsil.
The bride’s family dog, tied at some distance from the venue, reportedly started barking repeatedly, which irritated members of the groom’s side. According to police, one individual allegedly struck the dog, triggering a heated exchange that quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.
Eyewitnesses quoted by TOI said that chairs and sticks were used during the clash. Three members of the bride’s family, Rishabh Kesarwani, Shubham Gupta and Sangeeta Devi, sustained head injuries, while another person suffered a fractured hand. Some members of the groom’s family also sustained minor injuries. SHO Khaga R.K. Patel confirmed that no formal complaint had been lodged so far.
Meanwhile, an NDTV report added more context to the events. The bride, Tanya Kesharwani, daughter of the late Sunil Kumar and Saroj Gupta, and the groom, Sumit, son of the late Rakesh Chanda and Babli Devi, had eloped and solemnised their marriage in January in Kanpur. The February ceremony in Fatehpur was intended to be a formal celebration after discussions between both families.
According to the groom, tensions flared around 4 am during the jewellery presentation ritual when the bride’s dog allegedly barked aggressively, prompting a young man from the groom’s side to hit the animal. This act outraged the bride’s relatives, leading to a violent confrontation.
NDTV reported that at least eight people, including women, were injured, with three from the bride’s family sustaining head injuries. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Following the clash, both families reportedly reached Khaga police station, where the wedding celebration was officially called off. However, Tanya refused to accept the cancellation. She left her family home in Prayagraj and, five days later, arrived alone at her in-laws’ residence.
After initially being asked to return, she recorded a video with her husband, which was shared on social media, emphasising that their marriage had already taken place in January and that the February event was merely a formal ceremony.
