UP Weather update: 60 districts on orange alert as IMD predicts sudden change from today. Check the forecast for Lucknow, Noida, Ghaziabad and more

The weather in Uttar Pradesh has changed once again, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a severe warning for strong storms, rainfall, thunderstorms, and possible hailstorms across most parts of the state. On April 8, gusty winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph are expected in multiple districts of Uttar Pradesh, which may disrupt normal life.

On Tuesday evening, several UP districts, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, and Lucknow, witnessed intense storms and heavy rainfall. The sudden change brought down night temperatures, leading to more pleasant conditions. An orange alert has been issued for these districts. While Noida will see generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers today, Ghaziabad will also experience showers.

UP rain: 60 districts on orange alert

According to a report in Navbharat Times, the IMD has issued an orange alert in 60 districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Meerut, Baghpat, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Sitapur, Amroha, Hapur, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Sambhal, Badaun, Mathura, Aligarh, Kasganj, Etah, Hathras, Ayodhya, Barabanki, Lucknow, Kanpur Dehat, Auraiya, Etawah, Firozabad, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Lalitpur, Jhansi, Mahoba, Sultanpur, Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Sant Kabir Nagar, Varanasi, Ghazipur, Bhadohi, Mau, Ballia, Hardoi, Shahjahanpur, Chitrakoot, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Fatehpur, Unnao, and Jalaun. Heavy rain and hailstorms accompanied by strong winds are expected in these areas.

Orange alert in these regions

A yellow alert has been issued in Shravasti, Balrampur, Gonda, Basti, Gorakhpur, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, and Deoria districts. Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is possible in these regions of Uttar Pradesh. The next 48 hours will be crucial.

According to meteorologists, the weather will remain the same in the state for the next two days. Maximum temperatures may drop by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius. However, there are indications of a rapid increase in temperatures again after April 9th.

UP weather on April 8, 9 and 10

West Uttar Pradesh is likely to experience rain and thundershowers at a few places, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph (gusting up to 60 kmph) and isolated hailstorms today, April 8, 2026. East Uttar Pradesh may see rain and thundershowers at many places, with similar thunderstorm activity, gusty winds, and chances of isolated hailstorms.

On April, 2eather conditions will improve in West Uttar Pradesh, with dry conditions and no warnings issued. In East Uttar Pradesh, light rain or thundershowers may occur at isolated places, but no severe weather warnings are in place. Both West and East Uttar Pradesh are expected to witness dry weather, with no rainfall activity or warnings across the regions on April 10.

Weather in Lucknow

According to IMD, Lucknow is likely to witness mainly clear sky becoming partly cloudy sky with possibility of light rain towards evening or night. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 34 & 21 Degree Celsius, respectively.

Lucknow experienced intense heat and sunshine throughout the day on Tuesday, but the weather saw a shift in the evening. Strong winds and rain brought relief from the heat. According to the Meteorological Department, Wednesday will also remain cloudy and there are chances of rain.
