Major Relief for Individual Consumers
Out of 86.5 lakh smart meter consumers in the state, 83 lakh were on prepaid mode, mostly 1kW and 2kW domestic users. Bills will be sent via SMS or WhatsApp, and no disconnections will be made during the billing cycle. Consumers with pending dues can pay in up to 10 installments.Important Clarification for Apartments & Societies
In a conversation with the department helpline, they clearly stated that the shift to postpaid billing applies only to individual domestic consumers. Apartment complexes and housing societies will continue with the prepaid smart meter system as before.
