UP CM Adityanath orders closure of schools across UP till Jan 1 amid cold wave
Winter has turned harsh across Uttar Pradesh. With temperatures dropping fast, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday ordered all schools in the state to remain closed till January 1. This order applies to every board: CBSE, ICSE and the UP Board, and covers classes up to Class 12.

The chief minister said the safety of children comes first and made it clear that carelessness during the cold wave will not be accepted.

UP officials told to stay alert on ground

CM Adityanath asked senior officers and district officials to stay in the field and keep an eye on the situation. He said they must check conditions themselves instead of relying only on reports.

District magistrates have also been allowed to close schools locally if the cold worsens. Online classes may be used only if there is no other option.

Uttar Pradesh cold wave: Focus on shelters, blankets and bonfires

The chief minister said no one should be left sleeping in the open during this freezing weather. Funds have already been released to all districts for blankets, night shelters and bonfires.

Officials were told to ensure that shelters have beds, clean spaces, blankets and food, and that help reaches people on time.

He also distributed blankets and food himself and assured the homeless that the government would continue to support them through the winter.

Relief work underway across Uttar Pradesh

The chief minister said North India is facing severe cold, and Uttar Pradesh is no exception. Officials, local representatives and volunteers are working to distribute woollens, light bonfires and keep shelters running.

In Gorakhpur alone, 480 bonfires have been arranged. Over 22,000 people have already received blankets and warm clothes.
