Ukraine says Russian Su-35 hit, video shows a plane going down in flames

A Reddit post claims it was a Russian fighter, "probably a Su-35" shot down by the Ukraine military in Nova Kkhovka. This has not been confirmed by Russia or other sources.

A plane going down in flames can be seen in a new video to come out online, with reports quoting the country's military as saying it was a Russian fighter jet they shot down.

The video posted by Reddit user OneSole shows a flaming plane going down with smoke billowing. It falls in the fields away from residential areas and bursts in a huge ball of fire.

The post claims it was a Russian fighter, "probably a Su-35" shot down by the Ukraine military in Nova Kakhovka. This has not been confirmed by Russia or other sources.



Sky News Australia aired the video quoting unnamed Ukrainian officials as saying it was brought down while trying to attack the aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force.

The official page of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine posted to Twitter: "The Ukrainian Air Force (yes, once again) shot down russian fighter jet Su-35 near Nova Kakhovka, Southern Ukraine."

Ukrainian news reports said the pilot of the plane ejected, and that there was a helicopter search for him.

Russia, meanwhile, has been hitting cities and villages in eastern and southern Ukraine with missiles. Ukraine said homes, school and a community center were hit in the missile strikes.
