The cost of applying for an Aadhaar PVC card has now been changed, with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) announcing a hike in service charges starting January 1, 2026. The updated fee applies to Aadhaar PVC card requests made through official platforms, including the myAadhaar website and the mAadhaar mobile application.

Revised Aadhaar PVC Card Charges

Under the new pricing structure, the fee for obtaining an Aadhaar PVC card has been increased from Rs 50 to Rs 75. The revised amount is inclusive of all taxes and delivery charges. This marks the first fee revision since the Aadhaar PVC card service was introduced in 2020.

Reason Behind the Fee Hike

Explaining the rationale for the increase, Unique Identification Authority of India stated that rising operational expenses prompted the decision. In an official circular, UIDAI said: “Over the years, the cost of materials, printing, secure delivery, and related logistics for Aadhaar PVC Card production and distribution has increased. In view of the rising operational expenditure and with the objective of ensuring continued high-quality service delivery, the Authority has reviewed the existing fee structure."

Aadhaar PVC Card: What You Should Know

The Aadhaar PVC card is a compact, plastic version of the Aadhaar card, designed for convenience and durability. It is pocket-sized, similar to a debit or credit card, and is more robust than the paper Aadhaar letter.

Importantly, the PVC card holds the same legal validity as both the e-Aadhaar and the paper Aadhaar letter.

Delivery Process and Timeline

Once an Aadhaar number holder places an order, UIDAI dispatches the printed PVC card to India Post within five working days. The card is then delivered to the address registered in the Aadhaar database via Speed Post.
