In a public notice issued on May 20, the agency said the deadline was extended after receiving “various representations from candidates.” Aspirants will now get an additional three days to submit their online application forms.
The UGC NET is conducted for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), eligibility for Assistant Professor appointments, admission to PhD programmes, and PhD-only courses in universities and colleges across India.
As per the revised schedule, candidates can now submit their online application forms till May 23, 2026, up to 10 am. Earlier, the deadline was May 20, 2026.
The application fee payment window has also been extended till May 23, 2026, up to 11:50 pm.
NTA has additionally revised the application correction schedule. The correction window will now remain open from May 25 to May 27, 2026, instead of the earlier May 22 to May 24 timeline.

- Complete the registration process using details such as name, mobile number, and email ID.
- Log in with the generated application number and password.
- Fill in personal, academic, and examination details carefully.
- Upload scanned copies of the required documents, including photograph and signature, in the prescribed format.
- Pay the application fee through the available online payment modes.
- Review all details carefully before final submission.
- Submit the form and download the confirmation page for future reference.
