Uganda army chief's wife in focus as Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s post goes viral amid his 'give 1 billion, most beautiful Turkish woman as wife' demand

Uganda's army chief, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has triggered a diplomatic firestorm by demanding $1 billion and Turkey's most beautiful woman as a wife. He has also threatened to severe ties if his demands aren't met within a month. Amid his bizarre demand, one of the old posts of the Uganda army chief about his wife Charlotte Nankunda Kainerugaba has resurfaced, in which he has praised her.

Uganda army chief's post on wife

In a 2022 post, Muhoozi Kainerugaba shared a smiling picture of his wife, Charlotte Nankunda Kainerugaba and wrote in the caption, "My wife, Charlotte Nankunda Kainerugaba, is the most beautiful woman on earth!" (sic).



The post has garnered attention as it comes at a crucial time when Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who is also the son of President Yoweri Museveni, has demanded $1 billion from Turkey and the "most beautiful woman in the country" as his wife.

On March 26, too, he wrote a post admiring his wife, which read, "Whenever I get depressed in life, all I have to do is remember Charlotte and then I am happy." (sic)


The Uganda Army chief also made a separate controversial remark, asking Turkey to hand over "the most beautiful woman in the country," saying he would marry her. “On top of the $1 billion from Turkey, I want the most beautiful woman in that country for a wife!” he wrote, in a now deleted post, which has since gone viral.

In a series of posts on X, Kainerugaba accused Turkey of benefiting from business and infrastructure projects in Somalia, including ports and airports in the capital, Mogadishu.

This is not the first time Kainerugaba has made an unusual statement. In October 2022, he publicly said he was willing to offer 100 Ankole cows, which he described as "the most beautiful cows on Earth," in exchange for the hand in marriage of Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The comments prompted an apology from President Museveni, who criticised his son for interfering in other countries’ affairs.

Who is Uganda army chief's wife?

Muhoozi Kainerugaba is married to Charlotte Nankunda Kutesa and the couple got married in 1999. According to reports, she was born Charlotte Nankunda Kutesa, daughter of Sam Kutesa, a long-serving foreign affairs minister and one of Uganda's most prominent political figures.

Her sister Shartsi Kutesa Musherure is also an politician, reinforcing family's deep entrenchment in Uganda's ruling elite. Charlotte Nankunda Kutesa maintains a low-key profile and not much is known about her public life.
