India beat Pakistan 5-3 in thrilling semi-final to enter U18 Men''s Asia Cup final
Kakamigahara (Japan), The Indian hockey team showed incredible character to defeat arch-rivals Pakistan 5-3 in a high-voltage semi-final match of the U18 Men's Asia Cup on Friday.

Trailing 2-3 until the final quarter, India produced an outstanding attacking display in the final minutes to secure their place in the summit clash.

Ashish Gives India Early Advantage

The match began cautiously, with both sides battling for control in midfield. India broke the deadlock in the 12th minute after earning a penalty stroke following a defensive error by Pakistan.


Ashish Tani Purti calmly converted the opportunity to hand India a 1-0 lead, which they held until the end of the opening quarter.

Pakistan Fight Back Before Half-Time

Pakistan started the second quarter aggressively and nearly equalised through a penalty corner, but goalkeeper Ayush Rajak and defender Ansh Bahutra combined to deny Ahmad Uzair.

Their persistence paid off in the 27th minute when Adeel intercepted a pass, surged forward and scored a field goal to make it 1-1 heading into the break.

End-to-End Third Quarter

India regained the lead in the 35th minute through Shahrukh Ali, who finished off a swift passing move to make it 2-1.

However, Pakistan responded almost immediately. Muhammad Farhan Aslam equalised in the 37th minute before Uzair Ahmad Qureshi converted a penalty corner in the 42nd minute, giving Pakistan a 3-2 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Ashish's Heroics Turn the Match Around

Facing elimination, India launched an all-out attack in the final quarter. Their pressure resulted in consecutive penalty corners, and Ashish converted one in the 49th minute to level the score at 3-3.

India continued to dominate proceedings and earned a series of penalty corners. Ashish struck again in the 53rd minute to complete his hat-trick and put India ahead 4-3.

Fourth Goal Seals Famous Victory

With four minutes remaining, India won another penalty corner and Ashish once again found the net in the 56th minute, scoring his fourth goal of the match to extend the lead to 5-3.

The Indian team then held firm in the closing stages to secure a memorable victory over Pakistan.

Final Against Japan

The win sends India into the final of the U18 Men's Asia Cup, where they will face Japan on Saturday in a bid to lift the title.
