Twisha Sharma, who was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12, had reportedly visited a salon for a head massage just hours before her death, according to CCTV footage.

The death of the 33-year-old woman, who married Samarth Singh in December 2025, triggered allegations of dowry harassment.

Earlier reports said Twisha had sent a message to her mother on May 9, pleading to be taken back home. “Maa aap mujhe yaha se lene aa jao kal please,” one message read. In another, she described her life as “narak” and complained that her husband was no longer speaking to her.

Meanwhile, police have arrested her absconding husband from the Jabalpur district court premises.

The defence has questioned Twisha’s mental health and alleging that she was a psychiatric patient and drug addict — claims strongly disputed by her family.

The court had earlier granted anticipatory bail to Twisha’s mother-in-law, retired judge Giribala Singh, who is also an accused in the case.

Police said the initial post-mortem conducted at AIIMS Bhopal indicated death by hanging. However, Twisha’s family has alleged that multiple injuries on her body point to possible foul play.

Investigators also admitted that the rope allegedly used in the hanging was not sent for forensic examination and said action would be taken against the officer responsible.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) said it is continuing its probe under dowry harassment and abetment charges, irrespective of the defence’s claims.
