Who is Abraham and how did the two meet?

Abraham Williams is a Hawaii-based cinematographer, Steadicam operator, photographer, and video producer known for his work across feature films, documentaries, commercials, music videos, and short films. His notable projects include Decade of the Dead, Down on the Sidewalk in Waikiki, and Angel by Thursday.

Tulsi Gabbard first met her future husband, Abraham Williams, in 2012 during her campaign for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. At the time, Williams was volunteering for the campaign while working as a freelance photographer, capturing several well-known images of Gabbard, according to Newsweek. His mother, Anya Anthony, also managed Gabbard’s district office in Honolulu, The New York Times reported.

Although they initially crossed paths during the campaign, it was about a year and a half later that the two reconnected and began their relationship. Recalling the moment in an interview with The New York Times, Gabbard said they met again at a birthday party hosted by a mutual friend, where Williams eventually asked her out.

The couple soon discovered they shared many interests, especially a love for the ocean and water sports. Williams later proposed to Gabbard while the two were surfing together.

In 2015, the couple married in a traditional Vedic ceremony in Hawaii. Gabbard began practising Hinduism as a teenager, inspired by her mother, who had converted to the faith. Williams also follows Hinduism.

Over the years, Williams has built a career working on documentaries, feature projects, and music videos. According to his official website, he is passionate about telling human-centred stories, ranging from life in American cities to experiences in Middle Eastern war zones.

Gabbard and Williams have now been married for nearly a decade and have often spoken publicly about supporting each other through personal challenges. In an earlier appearance on Meghan McCain’s podcast Citizen McCain, Gabbard opened up about the couple’s struggles with fertility and multiple unsuccessful IVF attempts.

On their fifth wedding anniversary in 2020, Gabbard shared a heartfelt tribute to Williams on social media, thanking him for his love, friendship, humour, and unwavering support throughout their journey together.
