Tragic lightning strike claims life of 20-year-old in Assam's Chirang district

In a tragic incident reported by officials on Friday, a 20-year-old youth lost his life due to a lightning strike while he was asleep in his home located in Assam's Chirang district. The unfortunate incident occurred during Thursday night in the Ankorbari area, which had experienced significant rainfall earlier in the day.

The victim has been identified as Bijoy Maduwa. Maduwa's lifeless body was discovered by his family members on Friday morning, prompting them to immediately notify the local authorities and the health department.

Without delay, Maduwa was rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals sadly declared him brought dead. Following this, his body was sent for a post-mortem examination.


This heartbreaking incident serves as a grim reminder of the unpredictable and dangerous nature of lightning strikes during heavy rain and thunderstorms. Earlier this year, in Tinsukia district, a woman and her daughter also tragically lost their lives due to lightning strikes during torrential downpours and thunderstorms, highlighting the need for increased awareness and precautions during such adverse weather conditions.
