An Indian-origin woman living in the UAE has shared her experience of seeking medical treatment in Dubai after injuring her leg, comparing the process with her previous experience at an emergency room in the UK. Mirutula Sivakumar said her consultation in Dubai took about five minutes and the complete process, including getting a cast and medication, was finished within an hour.

Sivakumar shared her experience in an Instagram video, saying the hospital also considered whether she had flat feet before preparing her cast.

“I hurt my leg, so I came to the hospital. It took me 5 minutes for consultation, and the whole process took one hour. They even asked if I have flat feet, and they did the cast accordingly,” Sivakumar said in the video.

She said the hospital also gave her a CD containing her medical information, which could be presented at another hospital, along with her medications. According to Sivakumar, the entire process was completed within an hour.

Woman recalls UK emergency room wait

Sivakumar contrasted the experience with her time in the UK, recalling that she had waited six hours for a consultation in an emergency room.

“All of this took within one hour. I remember being in the UK, in the emergency room, waiting for six hours for a consultation,” she said.

She expressed appreciation for the healthcare services in Dubai, saying she felt fortunate to call the city her home. She captioned the video, “Have been spoilt by this city for 20+ years and I'm truly grateful to call this place my home.”

One user said they had faced a similar situation in the UK before moving to Dubai and described themselves as grateful to the UAE. Another user praised the UAE's hospitality and services, saying few countries could match its level.

A third user criticised the UK's healthcare system and said it was not as effective as some people believed. However, another commenter disagreed with directly comparing the two systems, writing, “You cannot compare apples to oranges.”
