Today Weather Update: Rain in Delhi, UP; snow in Himachal and dense fog in Odisha; here's what IMD has predicted for February 18 and 19

Delhi and Noida experienced light rainfall on Wednesday morning, bringing down the temperatures and providing a huge relief to the residents. A yellow alert was issued for Delhi, anticipating maximum temperatures between 26°C and 28°C and a light spell of rain for the day. Minimum temperatures are expected to remain stable for the next 24 hours before a slight dip.

The weather office has forecast very light to light rainfall for Delhi on Wednesday, accompanied by gusty winds with speeds ranging between 30 and 40 kilometres per hour during the afternoon. It has predicted that the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 27 degrees Celsius and 14 degrees Celsius, respectively.

According to the IMD, isolated rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning over Plains of Northwest India including parts of Haryana, Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) possible at isolated places.


-Hailstorm activity may occur at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana, and East Rajasthan.

-Isolated rain/snowfall likely over Jammu & Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh.

-In the southern region, cities like Chennai and Hyderabad may experience warm and humid weather with temperatures rising up to 32 degrees.

-Dense fog conditions likely in isolated pockets over Odisha and Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam during morning hours.

-The IMD said minimum temperatures are expected to rise gradually in northwest and central India over the next 24 hours.

Rain, snow in hills today?

A light dusting of snow could occur over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir over the next couple of days. Rainfall is also expected over the northern plains, along with isolated thunderstorms over Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, as the seasons change.

"Under the influence of the Western Disturbance, isolated light to moderate rainfall/snowfall is likely over the Western Himalayan Region and isolated light rainfall with thunderstorm & lightning over plains of northwest India on 17th & 18th February," the IMD said.

-Continued isolated rainfall/snowfall forecast for Jammu & Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

-Dense fog conditions may persist in isolated pockets over Odisha and Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam.

-Minimum and maximum temperatures over much of the country are expected to show no significant change or trend based on broader patterns in the bulletin.

Delhi-NCR weather today

Parts of Delhi and Noida witnessed light rain on Wednesday morning, a day after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast drizzle and a slight dip in daytime temperatures. The IMD had predicted overcast skies accompanied by light rain and issued a yellow alert for the day in Delhi.

According to the department, maximum temperatures are expected to settle between 26°C and 28°C, while minimum temperatures may range from 13°C to 15°C.
