"A staff of @TheOfficialSBI Tellicherry dispensing services at the counter dressed as the legendary King Mahabali whose yearly visits fall on the Onam day. Kudos to his spirit and gumption," the tweet read. Joseph also shared the video of the SBI staff.
At the time of writing, the video has been liked by close to 1000 users and retweeted by more than 150 people. It has already been viewed by over 32,000 people.
Several Twitter users appreciated the gesture. "We must appreciate that this is Kathakali Country. SBI must put one day in reserve for fancy dress especially Festivals to garner their employees' creativity," a Twitter user wrote. Another replied: "Applaud the Onam spirit! This staff is courageous indeed and I applaud that ?? considering in college the guys who rarely attended class were called Mahabali!"
Another Twitter user hailed the gesture and said that the bank should celebrate other festivals also.
But at the same time, some were not impressed by the whole episode. "I think , SBI has a Dress Code guidelines . If this be appreciated and allowed, branches may have more theatrics than service," a user quipped.
