Ticketless passengers 'hijack' AC2 coach of Howrah train. Video goes viral

A recent incident on the Kumbh Express (12369) has raised concerns about safety and comfort for passengers even in AC compartments. A video shared by IFS Akash Verma on the micro-blogging site 'X' has gone viral, showing a chaotic scene in the second AC compartment of the train. The video has gone viral on social media and has been viewed over 7.5 lakh times so far. Kumbh Express runs between Howrah and Kolkata.

In the video, ticketless passengers can be seen causing disruptions and taking up space meant for legitimate travelers. The overcrowded passage of the AC2 coach despite the presence of police personnel further highlight the severity of the issue. The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with users expressing their worry about the lack of safety and comfort for those who pay a premium for AC coaches.

Sharing the video, IFS Akash Verma emphasized the need for immediate action, stating, "A friend traveling on train 12369 shared this video of the AC 2 coach being hijacked by ticketless encroachers. These individuals are harassing passengers, occupying their berths, and even pulling the chain. Most of the passengers affected by this are senior citizens. Urgent intervention is required to address this situation."


The video has sparked a debate on the need for stricter measures to ensure the safety and comfort of Railway passengers.

"This is a regular scene in Sleeper class and even in 3rd AC at times. But 2nd AC being hijacked is unheard off and it's getting out of hand now. Railway police needs to be deployed in every single train to get things in control," said an user.



Another user said: "Recently, I traveled from BBSR TO JUNAGARH ROAD and there was no attendant in 2A coach. TTE caught hold of 2 railway staff and distributed bed rolls and after 2 hours, no one was there."

Railway Seva through its X account asked Akash Verma to "share PNR number and mobile no. preferably via DM to enable us to take immediate action".
