Thoda toh civic sense rakho: Visitors caught stealing flowers at Noida’s Flower Festival 2026
Noida's Flower Festival at Shivalik Park saw visitors stealing decorative flowers. Videos captured the incidents, drawing widespread criticism for the lack of civic sense. This behavior, even among seemingly educated individuals, has sparked disap...

One video shows a visitor recording people removing flowers from a decorative display and walking away with them. The person filming expressed frustration, saying, “Ye log decoration ko dekhne aa nahi rahe hai aur ye log kharab kar rahe hai. Dekh lo sab toh padhe likhe nazar aa rahe hai (These people have not come to see the decoration, they are ruining it. Look at them, they all appear educated).”
A woman nearby is also heard confronting the group, saying, “Aap log pagal ho kya? Thoda toh civic sense rakho (Are you people crazy? At least have some civic sense).” The man recording continued, “Saare padhe likhe aadmi hai aur es tarah se kar rahe hai. Samajh mein nahi aa raha hai. Log decoration dekhne ke liye aa rahe hai na aur es tarah se destroy kar rahe hai (All of them seem educated and yet they are behaving like this. It’s hard to understand. People are coming to see the decoration, and they are destroying it like this).”
Confrontation escalates as arguments break out
In another video, a man is seen handing flowers to his partner. The person recording comments, “Ye log smajhenge nahi. Free ka lekar biwi ko pyaar dikhaeyenge…ye kya faida hua? (These people will not understand. They’ll take it for free and show love to their wife…what’s the point of that?).” When confronted, a woman at the spot throws the flowers away, saying, “Lo, aur bolo (Here, say more).”The woman confronting them responds, “Kyu nahi bolenge? Galat kar rahe ho aap log (Why won’t we speak up? You people are doing wrong).” The argument intensifies as a man says, “Sab tod rahe hai. Hume hi kyu bol rahe ho? (Everyone is plucking. Why are you only telling us?)” and begins recording in return. The person filming replies, “Sab galti karenge toh aap bhi karoge (If everyone makes a mistake, will you also do the same?).” Remarks about possible police action are also heard during the confrontation.
Video raises concern about civic sense
The videos have prompted strong reactions online, with many expressing disappointment over the behaviour seen at the public event. Comments included:- “Civic sense is an expensive thing. Don’t expect it from cheap people.”
- “The mentality of ‘sab kar rahe the toh humne bhi kiya’ (everyone was doing it so we did it too) is gonna kill India one day.”
- “Education does not bring in civic sense or common sense in people.”
- “WTF….this is disgraceful. All these people are a seemingly educated lot. They should be ashamed.”
- “Our country is suffering more because of such so-called educated idiots. No civic sense at all.”
Similar incident during PM Modi’s Lucknow visit
This is not the first time such behaviour has drawn attention. In December last year, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Lucknow, flower pots arranged for the event were taken by the crowd. The decorations had been installed to mark the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The Economic Times Business News App for the Latest News in Business, Sensex, Stock Market Updates & More.
