Actor Adah Sharma, who recently starred in the controversial movie ‘The Kerala Story’, turned 31 on Thursday (May 11). Let us get to know more about the actor, who is celebrating her birthday today.

Adah Sharma’s family

Adah Sharma, the Bollywood actor, was raised in Mumbai. On May 11, 1992, she was born into a Brahmin family of Tamilian descent. Adah’s father is a merchant navy captain and originated from Madurai. The actor’s mother is a yoga instructor and hails from Nattupura near Palakkad. Initially, her surname spelled Sarma and the actor changed it after residing in Mumbai for many years.

Actor’s struggle

Adah always wanted to act and be a part of the film industry. The love for it seems to have originated in class 10. Adah seems to have looked to even drop out of school to pursue acting but her parents urged her to finish her education first.

Without any influential backing, the actor started auditioning for numerous roles in Mumbai. After struggling for around four years, she got an opportunity to become a part of the 1920 film (2009), where she co-starred with Rajneesh Duggal. It was directed by Vikram Bhatt.

Her skills

She is a trained dancer, who also loves painting. Since the age of three, Adah Sharma has been dancing. She has learnt jazz and ballet initially.

Later, she began to learn Kathak also and has completed her studies in the dance form at Gopi Krishna's Dance Academy. Not just this, she has also received Salsa training in the US. She is skilled in belly dancing as well.

Animal lover

The actor is also an animal lover and once wanted to be a circus performer. Sharma also initiated a campaign to adopt stray animals some time ago.
