‘The Kashmir Files’ star Anupam Kher pledges Rs. 5 lakh to support Kashmiri Pandits

Anupam Kher recently spoke at the ‘Global Kashmiri Pandit Conclave’ in New Delhi about the plight of Kashmiri Pandits and how his film 'The Kashmir Files' highlighted them. He cited the atrocities committed against Kashmiri Pandits and urged the audience to volunteer in monetarily supporting charities working on community-related issues, even announcing a Rs 5 lakh donation for the purpose.

‘The Kashmir Files’ was one of the defining films of Indian cinema. The film, which chronicled the plight of Kashmiri Pandits forced to flee the Valley due to terror attacks on them, was a rousing success because of widespread word-of-mouth publicity. While the film and its creator have since received numerous accolades and controversies, lead actor Anupam Kher has now pledged financial assistance to Kashmiri Pandits.

According to reports, Kher said, “The movie exposed Kashmiri pandits' problems. We have accomplished a lot. We give charity to wealthy foreign organisations. It is now critical that we help our own people. I have pledged Rs 5 lakh for them”.




‘The Kashmir Files’ recently won ‘Best Film’ at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards. Anupam Kher also bagged the award for being the ‘Most Versatile Actor Of The Year’ for his role in the movie.

Anupam Kher will appear in Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s ‘The Vaccine War’ and Kangana Ranaut’s directorial ‘Emergency’. He was most recently seen in the film ‘Shiv Shastri Balboa’, which was released earlier this month. Neena Gupta, Nargis Fakhri and Sharib Hashmi also appear in the film.
