The Hollywood Critics Association admits to inviting RRR star Jr NTR to the award show and explains actor’s absence

RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, won five awards at the Hollywood Critics Association awards ceremony last week. The prestigious ceremony was attended by the director, Ram Charan, MM Keeravaani, and the RRR team.

The absence of Jr NTR from the award show, on the other hand, was the talk of the town. The Hollywood Critics Association's official Twitter account revealed that Jr NTR had been invited but was unable to attend due to personal and professional obligations.

While SS Rajamouli, MM Keeravaani, and Ram Charan attended the award show in the United States, Jr NTR did not. On February 28, the Hollywood Critics Association's official Twitter account admitted to having invited Jr NTR to the award show. “He is filming a new film in India. We will present him with his awards shortly”.




A fan quickly pointed out that Jr NTR was not filming because his cousin Nandamuri Taraka Ratna died on February 18. The association responded to the fan by writing, “He couldn't attend because he was originally filming a movie. His brother's death occurred later, which is why he left the film. This is what his publicist (sic) told us”.

RRR is a period drama directed by SS Rajamouli and written by Vijayendra Prasad. The plot revolves around the lives of two Telugu freedom fighters, who are portrayed by Ram Charan and Jr NTR. Naatu Naatu won the Best Original Song Golden Globe at the 2023 Golden Globes.

‘Naatu Naatu’, composed by MM Keeravaani, has been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Original Song category in 2023. Jr NTR is expected to join Team RRR in the United States in the coming days.
