Amazon Prime Video’s hit satirical superhero drama The Boys will return for its fifth and final season on April 8, with the first two episodes dropping together. The remaining episodes will release weekly until the series finale airs on May 20, Variety reported.

The release date was announced at CCXP Brazil during The Boys panel, where creator Eric Kripke and the cast also debuted the first teaser trailer. The footage offers a glimpse of Supernatural stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles reuniting on screen. Ackles is back as Soldier Boy, while Padalecki’s role is still under wraps, though the teaser hints at a storyline connecting the two.

The Boys final season Plot

According to the official Season 5 description, Homelander now commands absolute control, driven by his unpredictable and egotistical impulses. Hughie, Mother’s Milk and Frenchie are held inside a “Freedom Camp,” Annie struggles to rally a resistance, and Kimiko has vanished. But when Butcher resurfaces with a Supe-killing virus in hand, he sets off a chain of events that will reshape the world. “It’s the climax, people. Big stuff’s gonna happen,” Variety noted.

The teaser also shows Butcher (Karl Urban) reuniting with Hughie (Jack Quaid), Annie (Erin Moriarty) and the rest of the group after walking away at the end of Season 4, hinting at a massive showdown as they try to avert global disaster.

Alongside Urban, Quaid, Antony Starr, Moriarty, Padalecki and Ackles, the final season features Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Cameron Crovetti, Susan Heyward and Valorie Curry.
