Thane's Bhasta Dam lit up in the colours of the tiranga ahead of Independence Day

The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign aims to inspire citizens to display the national flag in their homes and businesses to mark the country’s 75 year of independence.

As part of the Centre's 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign that was launched on July 22 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the tricolour is being hoisted everywhere possible.

One such location is the Bhasta Dam in Maharashtra's Thane, where the flowing water has been illuminated in the three colours of India's 'tiranga'

The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign aims to inspire citizens to display the national flag in their homes and businesses to mark the country’s 75 year of independence.


In a video tweeted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the dam can be seen in all it's glory, a visual that drew equal amounts of praise and flak on the internet.


Many users on Twitter responded to the government's tweet with words of praise, calling it "beautiful" and "amazing." The move also drew critique with one user saying that it was "much more important to focus on economic, social and technological development," adding that "too much celebration of anniversaries is a typical sign of non-achievers"
