One of the world's largest religious buildings is soon to open in India. The Temple of Vedic Planetarium is all set to open in Mayapur, West Bengal. The temple will be bigger than the St. Paul's Cathedral located in the Vatican and the Taj Mahal in Agra.

The temple will also reportedly have the largest dome in the world and is the headquarter of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKON). The construction for the temple had begun in 2010 and has a budget of $100 million. It will have the capacity to accommodate nearly 10,000 people according to ISKCON temple customs.

The building will also feature a large rotating model meant to symbolize the functioning of the planetary system in compliance with the holy scriptures of Bhagavad Purana.

According to the temple authorities, it will be a 'one of a kind' building as it will be the first to showcase the entire Vedic cosmology in an interactive way, meant to help everyone understand the Vedic cosmos and other stories of the Puranas.

The temple was previously scheduled to open by 2022 but it faced delays during the pandemic. Currently, the authorities are looking to complete the construction of the temple by 2024.
