Despite the long weekend, the big starrer Bollywood films could not pick up speed at the box-office.
Telugu cinema has taken the lead when it comes to the new arrivals of the season. Nikhil Siddhartha's latest fantasy adventure Karthikeya 2 has been trending higher than some of the other Bollywood biggies that were recently released like Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan.

The Hindi version of Karthikeya 2 was released with limited screen space on Saturday and within two days of its release, the film has showed a significant 300% jump in collections.

Taran Adarsh, a noted film critic tweeted about the film and shared the box office collections on it. He wrote, "#Karthikeya2 - dubbed in #Hindi - is creating noise in the #Hindi market, despite [i] releasing on Sat, [ii] facing giants like #LSC and #RB and [iii] showcasing at veryyy few screens/shows... Sat 7 lacs, Sun 28 lacs. Total: ₹ 35 lacs... Growth of 300% on Day 2. HINDI version."

Karthikeya 2 has already received great reviews from its fans and has been winning over it's North Indian audience. Anupam Kher also had a small cameo appearance, and he shared his excitement on being a part of the epic film on twitter. The tweet read, "Watched #Karthikeya2 last night. Loved it. I have an interesting cameo in it. Film releases In theatres today. Time to immerse in the world of our Indian Culture!"

This film has become Nikhil's biggest blockbuster and has been making waves overseas and in India. The film was reportedly made on a Rs 30 crores budget. For those who haven't watched the film, it is a mystery adventure saga, which delves into the story of Lord Krishna. It is showcasing the Indian culture in a way like never before.

On the other side, Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan continue to struggle at the box office. Both films were released on Thursday, August 11, but they failed to outrun their opening day figures throughout the extended weekend.
