A red alert for severe heatwave is in place for Adilabad, Komuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Jagtial, Kamareddy, Rajanna Sircilla, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Suryapet and Nalgonda. Telangana recorded 46.5 degrees Celsius for the first time this summer season, marking its highest temperature yet.
Rainfall likely in some places
Besides the heatwave warning, the IMD also forecast light to moderate rainfall over the next three days. The IMD stated that light to moderate rainfall is likely at isolated places in some districts today and tomorrow, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. Telangana continued to reel under intense heat on Wednesday, with heatwave conditions reported from as many as 84 locations across the state. The situation turned even more severe in two places—one each in Jangaon and Kumuram Bheem Asifabad districts—where authorities recorded severe heatwave conditions.According to data from the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, Dilawarpur in Nirmal district emerged as the hottest location, recording a maximum temperature of 46.5°C. Several other districts also witnessed scorching conditions, with temperatures crossing the 46°C mark.
