The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several districts in Telangana, warning of heavy rainfall, severe thunderstorms, and strong winds in the coming days.

Which districts are under alert?

The orange alert applies to:
  • Adilabad
  • Kumuram Bheem Asifabad
  • Mancherial
  • Nirmal
  • Nizamabad
  • Medak
  • Kamareddy
Meanwhile, a yellow warning has been issued for the rest of Telangana.

IMD officials have cautioned that the thunderstorms will bring lightning, winds of 40-50 kmph, and even hailstorms in some areas.

"The incoming rain is expected to provide much-needed relief from the scorching heat, with temperatures soaring past 41°C in several parts of the state," an official said.

Weather expert T Balaji predicted that severe thunderstorms will start from April 2, with the worst impact in North Telangana on April 3 and 4.
