Telangana: Foul-smelling, blood-like liquid gushing from manhole sparks panic among Hyderabad residents

According to an IANS report, local authorities reassured residents that the liquid was not blood but a red-colored chemical discharged from nearby industrial units. The nearby industrial area has been known for releasing such chemicals directly into the drainage system, raising concerns among the locals. Many residents felt that municipal authorities had not taken adequate action to address the issue.
The Telangana Pollution Control Board (TPCB) officials visited the area to assess the situation and assured residents that steps would be taken to prevent further discharge of harmful chemicals into the drainage system.
In a separate incident, local residents foiled an attempt to dump toxic chemicals into the Musi River at Bapughat. The truck driver, attempting to unload industrial waste into the river, was stopped by the alert locals. The driver managed to flee before the police arrived, leaving the truck behind. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
Locals claim that illegal dumping of industrial waste into the already polluted Musi River has been an ongoing problem. They have urged the government to take strict action to prevent such activities, especially as the state plans to revive the river through the Musi Riverfront Development Project.
