Rainfall impacts

The weather bulletin warns that rainfall may lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas, traffic congestion, slippery roads, drainage clogging and disruptions to electricity, water supply and other essential services. Falling trees and electric poles may also affect movement in some locations.

For medium-risk situations, authorities expect water accumulation at a few to many locations, traffic disruptions and temporary interruptions to civic services.

For high-risk situations, more widespread waterlogging, severe traffic congestion, restricted movement and greater disruption to public utilities are likely.

Preventive actions

Authorities have advised municipal corporations to issue timely public advisories, clear waterlogged areas and ensure proper drainage. Road and rail traffic departments have been asked to regulate traffic wherever necessary, while emergency response teams should remain prepared to respond to weather-related incidents. Electricity and water departments should also be ready to restore essential services if disruptions occur.

Residents are advised to monitor the latest weather updates, avoid unnecessary travel during thunderstorms or periods of heavy rainfall, and exercise caution in areas prone to waterlogging and strong winds.
