The victim, a 13-year-old, was lured out of his house by his friend on the pretext of watching cars at the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. Once there, the accused - who was reportedly planning the crime for well over five months - used a shard of glass to slit his victim's throat
“The parents told us that at 3pm, his friend had come to their house and taken the boy with him. So, we started to trace the minor’s friend and sent a team to his house. But he was not there. His parents didn’t have any idea about the incident or his whereabouts," Iraj Raja, SP (Rural), was quoted as saying by TOI.
The victim is the son of a labourer who studies in a different school to the accused but lives in the same neighbourhood.
Eventually, the police found the accused near the Masuri police station, where he told cops that he planned to surrender if they did not find him.
"At 7 pm, we found him near a tea shop outside the Masuri police station,” adds Raja, pointing out that the accused had to "change schools thrice because he could not pass exams."
