Techie’s salary rose from Rs 3.5 LPA to Rs 40 LPA, but day trading cost him Rs 50 lakh; now plans to sell 2 acres of land

A tech professional who reportedly grew his annual salary from Rs 3.5 lakh to around Rs 40 lakh has suffered a Rs 50 lakh loss through day trading and is now considering selling two acres of land to recover financially.

The incident was shared by his relative Vikas on X, who said the man entered trading after coming across a Telegram channel offering trading signals. Although he initially made quick profits, his growing confidence and larger investments eventually resulted in a significant loss.

From Rs 3.5 LPA to Rs 40 LPA

According to Vikas, the tech professional completed his B.Tech in Computer Science from a tier-3 college in 2016. He studied at a government school until Class 10 and came from a Telugu-medium educational background.

He later pursued his studies at Kakatiya University in Warangal and began his professional career at Infosys.

“There is a relative of mine who completed his B.Tech CSE from a Tier-3 college in 2016," said Vikas, adding: “Till 10th, he studied in a government school. Today, the same guy who started earning Rs 3.5 LPA is now earning around Rs 40 LPA. But recently, he lost Rs 50 lakhs in day trading."

How Did He Get Into Day Trading?

Vikas said the man wanted to put his growing income to work and began looking for investment opportunities.

“He started his career with Rs 3.5 LPA. Now, he is earning around Rs 40 LPA. But with the money in hand, he wanted to invest somewhere," Vikas said.

He eventually came across a Telegram channel that provided trading signals. According to Vikas, the early results encouraged him to put more money into the market.

“He found a Telegram channel where they were giving trading signals. Initially, he made Rs 2-3 lakhs, and he got more greedy and invested a huge amount of money," said Vikas.

From Initial Profits to a Rs 50 Lakh Loss

The initial gains reportedly gave the tech professional confidence to continue trading with larger amounts. Vikas said he eventually moved beyond the Telegram signals and began relying on his own analysis.

“He ignored the signals and even started doing his own analysis and trading. Today, this guy is about to sell two acres of land," he added.
