Every year, Techer's Day is observed on September 5 to commemorate the birthday of India's first Vice-president Dr. Sarvopalli Radhakrisnan. It is believed that the custom of organising Teachers' day on September 5 started when some of his students visited Dr. Radhakrishna to wish him a happy birthday in 1962. He urged those students to observe this day (September 5) as a way to honour all teachers.
Dr. Radhakrishna was born on September 5, 1888, in Tiruttani, in Andhra Pradesh. He was a scholar, philosopher, and teacher be profession. He also received Bharat Ratna Award for his contribution on Indian education and 11 times nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Dr Radhakrishnan stated his teaching profession as a professor of Philosophy in Chennai’s Presidency College. he was very popular among his students.
