According to the latest weather bulletin, light to moderate rain is likely at isolated places, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, at one or two locations over districts in the Western Ghats and parts of South Tamil Nadu. Dry weather is expected to prevail over the rest of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Rain in Chennai today
"Light to Moderate Rain with Thunderstorm and Lightning is likely to occur at isolated places over Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram and Chennai districts of Tamil Nadu during next 1-2 hours," the RMC Chennai said in a latest post on X.According to the RMC, one can expect light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places in Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Perambalur, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Tiruchirappalli districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry/Karaikal area today. The rainfall in these regions might trigger water logging in some areas and slippery roads too. Traffic might also be affected.
For Tuesday, the RMC has forecast light rain at isolated locations, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at one or two places over coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Delta Weatherman Hemachander has forecast more summer showers for the next few days. His press note says that western, southern, and Cauvery delta districts will see scattered rain with thunder. He also added that a few places in the interior districts and near the Western Ghats might even get hailstorms.
The RMC also noted that temperatures were significantly below normal in the Ghat areas of Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts, while the rest of Tamil Nadu experienced near-normal temperatures. In the hill regions, Kodaikanal recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 11.7°C during the night between Saturday and Sunday.
