There is a simple household ingredient, turmeric, commonly known as haldi, that can rival many costly supplements, according to Celebrity fitness coach Siddhartha Singh, best known for guiding Tamannaah Bhatia through her fitness transformation. Singh described haldi as one of the most overlooked yet powerful superfoods available in almost every kitchen. Despite its low price, he says it delivers benefits that many lab-made supplements struggle to match.

Why turmeric works

In a post shared on December 17, 2025, Siddhartha explained that turmeric’s strength comes from curcumin, its main active compound. According to him, curcumin is a powerful anti-inflammatory agent that helps tackle many modern-day health concerns.

Inflammation, he noted in the video, is closely linked to problems such as digestive issues, joint discomfort, and even brain fog — making turmeric especially useful in everyday wellness.

A natural alternative to supplements

In his caption, Singh wrote that haldi is “underrated, affordable, and already in your kitchen,” adding that when used correctly, it can be more effective than many expensive products sold in supplement stores.

He also said in the video that turmeric costs less than ?20, yet contains curcumin, which plays a major role in controlling inflammation across the body.

“A natural steroid” for recovery

Siddhartha highlighted turmeric’s benefits for joint health and physical recovery, especially for people who stay active. He encouraged regular use of haldi in daily cooking, saying it supports smoother recovery and reduces overall strain on the body.

Calling it something our parents always believed in, he added that turmeric has earned a reputation as a “natural steroid” because of how strongly it supports healing and joint comfort.

How to get the most out of haldi

Singh also shared a simple tip: always pair turmeric with black pepper. He explained that black pepper can boost the body’s ability to absorb curcumin by up to 2,000 percent, making the spice far more effective.

His message was clear — sometimes the most powerful health boosters are not found on pharmacy shelves, but already sitting in your kitchen.
