Hyderabad to Hubballi Flight Faces Mid-Air Scare
The Fly91 Airlines flight IC3401, an ATR turboprop aircraft, took off from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport around 3 pm and was scheduled to land in Hubballi by 4:30 pm.However, as the aircraft approached its destination, it reportedly encountered an issue that forced the pilots to abort landing. The flight remained airborne for nearly four hours, circling over parts of Karnataka, including Mundgod, Davanagere, and Shivamogga.
This extended flying time triggered panic among passengers, making it one of the most talked-about aviation incidents in India recently.
Passengers Panic, Demand Diversion to Bengaluru
Passengers onboard were clearly distressed, with many heard pleading for the aircraft to be diverted.“Ask the pilot to go to Bengaluru… or at least Belgaum,” one passenger is heard saying in the viral video, reflecting growing anxiety during the ordeal.
Meanwhile, the pilot repeatedly reassured passengers, asking them to remain calm and follow instructions as the crew managed the situation.
Flight Finally Lands Safely in Bengaluru
After hours of uncertainty, the flight was eventually diverted and landed safely at Kempegowda International Airport around 7:30 pm.Despite the panic, no injuries were reported, and all passengers were safely deboarded.
Fly91 Denies Technical Snag, Blames Bad Weather
Fly91 Airlines has denied reports of a technical fault in the aircraft, stating that the situation was caused by bad weather near Hubballi.According to the airline, the decision to hold the aircraft mid-air and divert it to Bengaluru was in line with standard aviation safety protocols.
The airline also stressed that there was “zero compromise on safety” and highlighted its trained crew and strong safety record.
Family Members Raise Concerns Over Communication
Even though the flight landed safely, family members of passengers have raised concerns about lack of communication from the airline, alleging they were not given timely updates during the incident.The episode has sparked fresh conversations around airline safety in India, passenger communication, and handling of in-flight emergencies.
