Swiggy responds after Mumbai man finds half-cooked tablets in food

A man from Mumbai has reportedly found a strip of tablets in food he ordered from the renowned Leopold café through aggregator Swiggy.

The incident came to public attention when the man, named Ujwal Puri, shared images and a video of the food he was delivered.

He posted on X (formerly Twitter): "My Mumbai Christmas Surprise ordered food from Swiggy from Leopold Colaba got this half cooked medicine in my food." It may be mentioned here that he had ordered chicken in oyster sauce.


In his post, Puri also tagged Swiggy.

Puri's post quickly went viral. Swiggy later responded that it will connect with him on X's direct messages.

The X users reacted to the episode, with many of them underlining that Leopold Cafe's service and quality has fallen over the years.

One person posted, "Swiggy, what is this behavior, you sent half cooked cooked medicine. Atleast, ask the restaurant to cook properly."

Another wrote, "Swiggy, plz taste and check all food items before delivering it to this man."

Yet another person commented, "Leopold cafe is pathetic since last couple of years! Everything is unhygienic - place, fod, kitchen, cutlery, staff, ambience and even furnitures. Please exempt Swiggy's poor delivery boy. He was the messenger, don't shoot the messenger."

This is the latest in a series of similar cases where people who order food have found unusual, sometimes strage, items in their food. A few days ago, a Bengaluru resident was shocked to find a live snail in the salad ordered through Swiggy.

Some have reported finding cockroaches/lizards in their orders.

The Leopold Cafe and Bar is an establishment in Colaba, Mumbai. It became known across India as one of the targeted placed during the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
