Jim Mickle confirmed on Twitter that both the second and third seasons of the show were filmed simultaneously. Netflix officially announced the news of the two seasons' back-to-back filming. In a statement released by Netflix, Mickle expressed that the story of the show evolved and took on a life of its own, despite initially intending to tell Gus' story from the comic book. Over the course of 24 episodes, the characters in the show took on more depth and meaning, and the cast and crew contributed significantly to their development.
Moreover, the directors Ciaran Foy, Carol Banker, Toa Fraser, and Jim Mickle are set to return for the third season of Sweet Tooth. The season will consist of eight episodes, and the writers for each episode have been announced by the WGA. The writers include Noah Griffith & Daniel Stewart, Zaike LaPorte Airey, Carly Woodworth, Kseniya Melnik & Noah Griffith & Daniel Stewart, Oanh Ly & Daniel G. King, Bo Yeon Kim & Erika Lippoldt, and Noah Griffith & Daniel Stewart. Jim Mickle, who directed the first two seasons of the show, will write the final episode of the third season.
