Sushmita Sen gives a befitting reply to those calling her a gold digger

Ever since businessman Lalit Modi has made his relationship with former Miss Universe and actress Sushmita Sen public, the couple has drawn a lot of flak online.

The news, as shocking as it may seem, has given trollers free pass to make quick judgements about the couple.

The actress has finally spoken about the issue.


Taking to her Instagram account, Sushmita Sen shared a long note to address the hate and trolling she has received since her relationship with the IPL founder came out in the open.

The former Miss Universe said she was heartbroken to see how the world was becoming a miserable place.

"Perfectly centred in my being & my conscience…I love how nature merges all it’s creation to experience oneness…and just how divided we are, when we break that balance. It’s heartbreaking to see just how miserable & unhappy the world around us is becoming...," she wrote in the note.

Talking about being called a gold digger, the Aarya actress said she loved her diamonds more than gold, which she has bought all by herself.

"The so called intellectuals with their idiosyncrasies….the ignorant with their cheap & at times funny gossip ?? The friends I never had & the acquaintances I’ve never met….all sharing their grand opinions & deep knowledge of my life & character…monetising the ‘Gold Digger’ all the way!!! Ah these geniuses!!! I dig deeper than Gold…and I’ve always (famously) preferred Diamonds!! And yes I still buy them myself!!!"

She also thanked her well-wishers and loved ones for extending their support.

"I love the all heart support my well wishers & loved ones continue to extend. Please know, your Sush is ABSOLUTELY fine.. cause I’ve never lived on the transient borrowed light of approval & applause. I am the Sun….perfectly Centred in my being & my conscience!!"

Earlier, Modi had written a long note to shut down trolls and to address rumours about him and his ex-wife Minal Modi.

On July 14, Modi took the internet by storm after he shared a handful of holiday pictures along with some of his old photographs with the actress. With his post he signalled the new beginning of his life, however, he said that marriage was not on the cards yet. The businessman went on to say that by god’s grace marriage too will happen sometime.

The 46-year-old actress was earlier dating model 30-year-old Rohman Shawl. In 2021, the actress announced her break-up in an Instagram post. "We began as friends, we remain friends! The relationship was long over... The love remains," wrote Sushmita.
