A woman using a wheelchair has drawn widespread attention online after a video showed her performing pull-ups at a gym, with several women helping position her wheelchair before she attempted the exercise on her own.

The clip was shared on Instagram by Abril Alfaro and carries the text, “POV: doing pull-ups with the wheelchair.” At the start of the video, the woman appears uncertain about completing the exercise. Four women then help move her wheelchair towards the pull-up bar before stepping away and allowing her to continue independently.

Woman aims to complete 10 pull-ups

Once positioned beneath the bar, the woman grips it and begins performing pull-ups while remaining seated in her wheelchair.

Despite her initial hesitation, she completes the exercise and continues with the attempt. Towards the end of the video, she reveals her target for the coming months, saying, “My goal is to reach 10 before the year ends.”

The footage also highlights the assistance provided by the women around her. They help place the wheelchair correctly before leaving her to carry out the exercise independently.

Viewers praise her strength and determination

The video prompted strong reactions from viewers, many of whom praised the woman's discipline and physical strength.

“Congratulations on your discipline; you are a superwoman,” one person wrote.

Another user highlighted the support from the women who helped her, commenting, “All the girls lifting you up.”

“What a freakin beast!” another viewer wrote, while someone else commented, “Amazing work! You got this.”

The difficulty of the movement also became a talking point. “Wide grip too? Incredible!” one person wrote.

Another viewer pointed to the additional weight involved in the exercise, saying, “The average wheelchair is 35 - 45lbs. Rare to see any gym member performing wide grip weighted pull-ups. Amazing!!!”
