The incident came to light around 7 am on Thursday when the couple's eldest daughter woke up and was shocked to find her mother and father unconscious in their bedroom. The child, who was also suffering from severe stomach pain, managed to alert neighbours, who then informed the police. A team from the Ecotech 3 police station reached the crime scene and rushed their three children—who were also showing symptoms of poisoning—to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors declared the couple dead on arrival, while the children were reported to be responding well to treatment.
