SSC CPO 2026: The application process for 1,871 Sub-Inspector vacancies has started. Check the last date, eligibility, vacancies, application process, salary and other details.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has opened the application process for the SSC CPO 2026 examination, giving graduates an opportunity to apply for Sub-Inspector posts in the Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). The recruitment notification was released on September 10, 2026. According to the notification, SSC is looking to fill 1,871 tentative Sub-Inspector vacancies through the examination. The online application window will remain open until September 30, 2026, at 11 pm.

Candidates interested in the recruitment should complete the application process before the deadline. The commission has also specified a separate deadline for fee payment and an application correction window.

SSC CPO 2026: How many vacancies are available?

The 1,871 vacancies have been announced for different Sub-Inspector posts in Delhi Police, CAPFs and the CISF Fire wing.


The vacancy breakup is:

  • Delhi Police SI (Executive), male: 205 posts
  • Delhi Police SI (Executive), female: 112 posts
  • SI (GD) in CAPFs: 1,320 posts
  • SI (Fire) in CISF, male: 234 posts
Among the CAPF vacancies, the highest number of posts are available in the Border Security Force (BSF), with 457 vacancies. The breakup also includes 254 posts in the CRPF, 250 in the CISF, 187 in the ITBP and 172 in the SSB.

These are tentative vacancies and can change depending on the final vacancies reported by the concerned departments and forces.

Candidates should avoid waiting until the final day to submit the form. The SSC has warned applicants that heavy traffic on the website close to the deadline could cause difficulties in completing applications.

Who can apply for SSC CPO 2026?

For the regular Sub-Inspector posts in Delhi Police and CAPFs, candidates must have a bachelor's degree from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification.

The general age requirement is 20 to 25 years as on August 1, 2026. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will get age relaxation as per government rules.

There are separate educational and age requirements for the CISF Sub-Inspector (Fire) post. Candidates applying for this post need the prescribed science or engineering qualification. The age limit for this post is 18 to 30 years.

Male candidates applying for the Delhi Police SI post are also required to have a valid Light Motor Vehicle (motorcycle and car) driving licence by the time of the Physical Endurance and Measurement Test.

Eligible candidates can apply online through the official SSC website.

  2. Complete the required registration process if you are a new applicant.
  3. Log in using your registration details.
  4. Select the SSC CPO 2026 examination from the available application options.

  6. Upload the photograph, signature and other documents in the prescribed format.
  7. Check the application form carefully before submitting it.
  8. Pay the applicable examination fee.
  9. Submit the application and save a copy of the confirmation page for future reference.
Candidates should make sure that the information entered in the form matches their official documents. Errors in personal details, educational qualifications or other information could create problems at later stages of the recruitment process.

What happens after the SSC CPO application?

The recruitment process involves multiple stages. Candidates will first have to appear for the computer-based examination. Those who qualify will proceed to the physical tests and subsequent stages prescribed by SSC. The Sub-Inspector posts covered by the recruitment carry Pay Level 6, with a basic pay scale of ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400, apart from applicable allowances and benefits. The exact nature of duties and posting will depend on the force or organisation in which a candidate is selected.

The last date to submit the SSC CPO 2026 application is September 30, 2026, up to 11 pm. The deadline for online fee payment is October 1, 2026, while candidates will get an opportunity to make corrections in their applications from October 8 to 10.
