Filmmaker SS Rajamouli bags Best Director trophy at New York Critics Circle awards for RRR

RRR continues to break records not only at home but also at the international level. Since its release in March this year, the epic-action-drama film is not only spinning money but rewards as well. The blockbuster has again bagged a prestigious award, this time in the USA.

What is the award received by SS Rajamouli?
The superstar filmmaker SS Rajamouli has been bestowed with the Best Director Award for RRR at New York Critics Circle. It is the second time the director has been nominated in Hollywood for the same film. Earlier, Rajamouli was nominated for the Saturn Awards but couldn't win it.

Ramesh Bala, the trade expert, tweeted for the same and said it's a big honour. The New York Critics Circle announced the winners' names on Friday morning, with Todd Field's Tár bagging the award for the best film. Tár also received another award as Cate Blanchett got the best actress award for her role as a German composer. It is the second award for her from the same group; the earlier one was for Blue Jasmine in 2013, for which she also received Oscar.


Although the film RRR was not chosen to represent India, Variance Films pushed forward a significant campaign to get it recognized in the general category.
