A significant increase in influenza cases has hit the country in recent weeks, with people experiencing painful coughs. Experts have recommended a variety of precautionary measures, as well as immune-boosting methods, to help people stay healthy.

According to Dr. GC Khilnani, Chairman of the PSRI Institute of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine, “During the last two months, there has been a rapid spread of flu (influenza infection). Everyone else is sick with fever, cough, loss of voice, and shortness of breath. Uncontrollable coughing (with or without wheezing) is a common symptom”.

Air pollution may impair respiratory immunity, new mutant pathogens require research, post-nasal drip, allergic airway, reflux diseases (acidity), and irrational antibiotic use are all possible causes of prolonged coughing.

The expert advised people to avoid taking antibiotics, which are frequently ineffective.
