Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: Shubman Gill begins new innings, will lend voice to Indian Spider-Man

Cricketer Shubman Gill will lend his voice to the Indian Spider-Man Pavitr Prabhakar in the Hindi and Punjabi versions of the film, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The announcement was made on Monday.

The latest movie, which is a sequel to 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, will arrive in theatres on June 2.

On Instagram, Shubman, who plays for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League, said, “Thrilled to give my voice for the Indian Spider-Man, Pavitr Prabhakar in Spider-Man: Across the #SpiderVerse. Trailer dropping soon! Get ready for some web-slinging action.”

In the upcoming Sony Pictures’ animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the first-ever Indian Spider-Man will get featured on the big screen. Talking about lending his voice in the movie, the cricketer added, “I have grown up watching Spider-Man, and he is one of the most relatable superheroes. Since the movie will be debuting the Indian Spider-Man for the first time on screen, getting to be the voice of our Indian Spider-Man in the Hindi and Punjabi versions was such a remarkable experience for me. I already feel superhuman. I am eagerly anticipating the release of this movie.”

Sony Pictures India, which is releasing the movie in India, also came up with a special announcement video featuring the cricketer. On Twitter, Sony Pictures India said, "Shub-Man is now Spider-Man! ��️�� Thrilled to have the talented @ShubmanGill as the voice of our very own - Indian Spider-Man, Pavitr Prabhakar in Spider-Man: Across the #SpiderVerse.
